I get offered a flu jab every year because of my job (nurse). Have never taken them up on it, but workmates who have told me it makes you feel absolutely awful.

Is flu dangerous when you're pregnant? Or is it that it just leaves your imunne system down?

The article says that pregnant women are at increased risk of mortality from influenza especially in the late stages of pregnancy.

In the radio coverage, this part caught my ear (presented in the article like this):
In a separate development, a study published recently in the American Journal of Epidemiology suggested influenza and pneumonia during pregnancy were associated with increased risk of leukaemia in the unborn baby.
